Sally Ride's success on the STS-7 Mission compelled the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to continue accepting women into the space program. Sally Ride was a role model to women and was living proof that a woman could make it in a male-dominated field. Therefore, Sally Ride, through her success on the STS-7 Mission and creation of student based programs, ignited the growth of women in space and science related professions.
